The AeroMax project is moving quickly. Last Saturday John Graber and Dave Trump from Mini-Max joined us for breakfast at the Chapterhouse. After dining on Blueberry Pancakes, Eggs, and Bacon, we went on a road trip to look at the project. All went well, with no major squawks reported. I really cannot overstate how revolutionary their CNC Laser-cut kit is, and I am extremely grateful that they are allowing our Chapter to be involved with this. Their generosity in donating the Fuselage Kit is fantastic!

Right now the project is being worked on in multiple locations, but look for pieces to start showing up at the Hangar in the next few weeks. To meet our goal of taking it to Airventure, there’s no time to waste.

It’s a tall order, and a lot of work, but we think it can be done. If you are interested in helping out let our Chapter President, Phil, know, or contact us through our contact page.

In the mean time, here are a couple of pictures of Ted and Charlie getting started on the ribs.

It is being restored to honor “Miss Liberty Belle” of the 305th Bomb Group. This B-17 returned to base damaged, and after seeing another B-17 fire flares signaling wounder were onboard, allowed the other B-17 land first. While waiting to land, Miss Liberty Belle crashed killing 8 of the 10 crew. This restoration will honor those men. Please help by purchasing a shirt. Check out our facebook page for the Grissom Air Museum, or message me for a shirt order. Shirts are $25.

Referred to as a Multi Mode Vehicle (MMV), the Switchblade is their first design. The wings swing under the vehicle in to a protected shell for use on the road. It seats two in tandem and has a top speed of 95mph on the ground and 140mph in the air. Although a flying prototype does not exist yet, Samson plans to have ground only versions of their designs ready for early 2010.

Check it out at http://www.samsonmotorworks.com/

Thanks to Larry for pointing this out.
